C1 LICENCE: FRONTLINE TRANSPORT STAFF
Most frontline transport staff will require a C1 licence as part of their role. Before you apply you will need a formal medical assessment to assess your fitness to drive.

During your appointment we will check your blood pressure and perform an eye test. The doctor will also ask you a series of questions about your medical history. The appointment generally lasts for 15-20 mins; however, this is subject to your medical history.
WHO NEEDS A C1 DRIVER MEDICAL?
- Qualified Paramedic
- Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP)
- Student Paramedic
- Qualified Emergency Medicals Technician (EMT)
- Apprentice Emergency Medicals Technician
- Emergency Care Support Worker (ECSW)
- Apprentice Emergency Care Support Worker
NB: Some Patient Transport Service contracts also require a C1 licence
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE MADE A BOOKING?
Once you have successfully booked and paid for your appointment. You will be sent a confirmation email of the details of the location, date, and time of the appointment, please read these carefully
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE APPOINTMENT?
- Photo ID – Driving licence/Passport
- Your driving glasses and your glasses prescription if you wear glasses (not contact lenses) to meet the eyesight standard needed for driving
- Your medication prescription
